If you’re into running, but also need a little excuse to take a great trip and eat paella without remorse, you’ve come to the right place. The Valencia Marathon is that point on the calendar that you have to highlight with fluorescent marker and put a sticker of the flexing muscle emoji.

Why should you choose Valencia? Because the atmosphere is electric, the route is flat, and the popular animation makes you feel like a protagonist even if you put on a giant banana costume.

The marathon is much more than 42 km, because it is also a festival of overcoming, of selfies with honorable sweat and that epic moment of crossing the finish line over the water in the City of Arts and Sciences. Don’t say we didn’t warn you because it’s addictive and you’ll probably end up looking for another excuse to come back next year.

When is the Valencia Marathon and What Will its Route be like this Year?

Mark Sunday, December 7th on the calendar so you don’t miss it. And no staying at home watching series, because the start is at 8:15 in the morning from the Plaça de la Marató, followed by 42,195 homologated meters that cross the city and culminate with an epic finish on the water walkway of the City of Arts and Sciences.

The circuit is so flat that not even the Miguelete elevator itself would dare to compete. In addition, Valencia in December offers the best climatic conditions since the temperature ranges between 12º and 17ºC, perfect for your shirt to end up soaked but your smile intact.

How to Participate in the Valencia Marathon: Registration and Key Requirements

If you’re itching to leave your mark on Valencia, registrations are open from December 2, 2024 until the 35,000 bibs are sold out, so hurry up and sign up. The process is online and very simple, all you have to make sure is that you have your ID or passport, your email and the details of those who dare to accompany you.

The prices escalate as the bibs sell out. The first ones pay 80 euros, the next ones 120 euros, up to 180 euros for the latecomers. And 200 euros for those who sign up on the waiting list in case you are one of those who decides at the last minute.

In the event that you do not have a federation license, you have to add 5 euros more for the Day License.

All about the Valencia Half Marathon: Dates, Route and Tips

Not everything in life is a marathon, even if the runner posturing says so. The Valencia Half Marathon is another jewel. It is held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 and has a circuit of 21,097 meters, so fast that your stopwatch will beg for mercy.

The route starts on Avenida dels Trongers and passes through iconic places such as the Alameda, Blasco Ibañez and, of course, touches the Mediterranean so that the body does not forget that it is in the land of sun and horchata.

The circuit is so flat that you will only climb 13 meters in the first 4 km, but we still advise you to take care of the rhythm, take advantage of the straights and go for your personal best.

What Time Does the Valencia Marathon Start and Essential Logistical Advice

The departure time is at 8:15 in the morning and it is not worth oversleeping.

If you have things that are going to get in your way to run, don’t worry because the cloakroom opens early and access to the venue is quite simple. We also advise you to plan your transport by metro, bus or taxi, as Valencia makes it easy, but the city will be busy, so it is better to anticipate.

Also remember not to forget your bib with chip, because without it, that day you are nobody.
